Preface Greetings to all. Welcome to the journey of learning Sanskrit. Sanskrit is an extremely simple, melodic, and scientific language. This book provides fundamental knowledge of Sanskrit for new learners.



Part 1: Basic Education

Chapter 1: Introduction to Sanskrit

  • Mama nama Gajendra. Bhavatah nama kim? (My name is Gajendra. What is your name?)

  • Introduction to simple sentences, greetings, and basic identification.

Chapter 2: Pronouns and Simple Sentences

  • Sah (He), Sa (She), Tat (That/It).

  • Sah Udayanah. (He is Udayan.) Sa Priya. (She is Priya.)

Chapter 3: Object Identification

  • Etat Pustakam. (This is a book.)

  • Eshah/Esha/Etat for nearby objects. Sah/Sa/Tat for distant objects.

  • Vocabulary: Upanetram (Specs), Lekhani (Pen), Phalam (Fruit).

Chapter 4: Questions and Wisdom

  • Kutra (Where), Kada (When), Kasya (Whose).

  • Yutakam kutra asti? (Where is the shirt?)

  • Subhashit: Udyamena hi sidhyanti... (Success is achieved through hard work).

Chapter 5: Identity and Short Story

  • Aham Chatrah. (I am a student.) Aham Grihini. (I am a homemaker.)

  • Story: Kakasya Buddhih (The Thirsty Crow). Moral: Wisdom is power.



Part 2: Intermediate Level

Chapter 6: Case Endings (Vibhakti)

  • Tasya nama... Tasyah nama... (His name... Her name...)

  • Ramah Dasharathasya putrah. (Rama is Dasharatha's son.)

  • Sudhirasya ghati. (Sudhir's watch.)

Chapter 7: Verbs and Practice

  • Gacchati (Goes), Pathati (Reads), Khadati (Eats), Pibati (Drinks).

  • Use of Bhavan/Bhavati (You - Formal).

  • Aham Gachami (I go). Vayam Kridamah (We play).

Chapter 8: Telling Time

  • Pancha vadanam (5 o'clock). Sardha sapta vadanam (7:30).

  • Padona ekadasha vadanam (10:45).

  • Subhashit: Priyavakyapradanena... (Kind words please all).

Chapter 11: Dual Form and Toy Descriptions

  • Dvau Balakau (Two boys), Dve Balike (Two girls).

  • Aham kridami (I play), Tvam kridasi (You play), Sah kridati (He plays).

Chapter 12: Home and Location Vocabulary

  • Kakshah (Room), Bhojanashala (Dining Room), Udyanam (Garden).

  • Dialogue: Bhavatah pustakam kutra asti? (Where is your book?)

Chapter 13: Tense Development

  • Present: Aham Pathami (I read).

  • Past: Aham Apatham (I read/studied).

  • Future: Aham Pathishyami (I will read).

Chapter 14: Nature and Environment

  • Vrikshah (Trees), Pashavah (Animals), Pakshinah (Birds).

  • Message: Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah (Nature protects those who protect it).

Chapter 15: Stories and Translation

  • Story: Simhasya Mitram (The Lion's Friend).

  • Translation Practice:

  • The boy goes to school -> Balakah vidyalayam gacchati.

  • I read a book -> Aham pustakam pathami.
